crossing over...

Okay to begin with let me be honest, my first opinion, and a vague one mind, of online blogs was - egotistical. I found it hard to comprehend why you'd sit there writing an essay on yourself for strangers to read, how boring right? Wrong. 

 yes, with me being an open minded individual (haha) I found that reading about the average Joes' (or Kellys, Lucys, Jacks - you get the picture) of this world can be entertaining and funny. Who needs celebrity 'tweets' when you've got your next door neighbour ranting about the huge queue she encountered at Tesco?

We've become so obsessed with celebrity culture (and I say that with no less blame on myself as an avid reader of such celebrity magazines) that we forget they are just ordinary people. Granted they are leading extraordinary and glamourous lives, high flyers of this world, but aside from that - newsflash - they are just the same as us! :O

Out of the spotlight there are plenty of equally (if not superior) talented/beautiful/charismatic individuals but where are their 4,569,789 followers on Twitter? All I'm saying is why strive for the ridiculously priced Gucci when we have Topshop next door, or, even better George @ ASDA? We don't need to immerse ourselves in the lives of the seemingly glamourous yet very untouchable celebs when the stories we hear of those closer to home, of the 'ordinary' can often be a considerable amount more touching, more humorous and importantly more relatable. 

Im not trying to make a big statement, following the lives of celebrities is, I agree, an indulgence, it is interesting and it does make you sigh and wonder what it'd be like if you were one. I just think that we forget to give a little deserved attention to the people of this world who aren't Jennifer Anniston or Paris Hilton.

Okay that said, I hope you get my reasoning behind starting to blog ;) 

Perhaps that was a bit longwinded, maybe more accurately I'm bored haha. As I am, as aforementioned, an 'average Joe' (or more accurately an Average Siobhan - no ring to that though)  I hope my blog serves some purpose, even if that purpose is boring someone so much they think  'shit, I'm going to buy Heat' well hey, I tried :P

As I said I'm a newbie as such, I'm not too informed of the format of such blogs, but introductions will be made soon I promise. I am as of now an official blogger. Its done, Ive crossed over. Wish me luck.
